Jeanette Heinen, age 93 of Spring Hill passed away Wednesday, July 16 at the Minnesota Heart Institute due to surgical complications. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014 held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spring Hill, Minnesota with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will take place on Friday, July 18 (TODAY) from 4-9 p.m. and on Saturday one hour prior to services both at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spring Hill. Parish Prayers will take place at 5 p.m.

Jeanette was born September 4, 1920 in Spring Hill to Arnold and Anna (Speldrich) Bertram. After graduating from the 8th grade in District 38 School, she helped her parents with the farm work. In 1943 she, together with four of her cousins from North Dakota, went to Glendale, California to work in a defense plant. On June 16, 1947 in Spring Hill, Jeanette was united in marriage to Mike Heinen, where they farmed their entire life until retiring in 1979. She was a member of the Christian Mothers, St. Mary’s Mission Circle of Spring Hill, Lake Henry Auxiliary, and Elrosa Senior Citizens. She was also a member of her special 500 Card Club.

Jeanette enjoyed playing cards, quilting, crocheting, dancing, and visiting with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. For nine years she and her beloved little shih tzu Ginger, (who also passed on July 16) spent every January and February at her daughter and son-in-law’s home in Palm Springs, California.

She is survived by her children, Barbara (John) Young of Spring Hill, Rosi (Richard) Balfour of McKinney Texas, Bonnie (Dr. Mark) Smith of Palm Springs California, Stanley (Ruth) Heinen of Spring Hill, Martie (Kevin) Thomes of Melrose, Roger (Jonelle) Heinen of New London; her sister-in-law Rose Bertram; 12 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 8 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mike; and brothers, Calvin and Richard.
