Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park for James Thomas “Jim” Jost, age 78, of Waite Park who passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Reverend David Grundman will officiate. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery with full military honors.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph and after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church in Waite Park. Parish prayers will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home in St. Joseph.

Jim was born February 12, 1938 at home in St. Joseph to Mathias and Lorraine (Nierengarten) Jost. He served honorably in the United States Air Force. Jim married Elaine Steman on July 28, 1962 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park. He was happily retired and enjoying time serving others through volunteering. Jim was active in both the St. Joseph and Stearns County Historical Society. Jim was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park, the Eagles Aerie #622, Whitney Senior Center, RSVP, and Waite Park Senior Citizens.

Jim had a love for music and playing the accordion with his fellow musicians. He also enjoyed outdoor activities which included fishing, baseball, and being at the lake. He treasured all the time spent with his family, especially the grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; children, Michael (Lori) of Sauk Centre, David (Cindy) of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Diane (Mike) Daniels of Plymouth, Kevin of Scottsdale, AZ; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Emily, Dylan, Danielle, Erika, Mallory, Morgan; brothers and sisters, Robert (Mary) of Waite Park, Jo Ann (Jerry) Christiansen of New Ulm, Thomas of Lewistown, MT; and many nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Mathias and Lorraine; grandson, Matthew; sister, Sr. Elaine Jost, OSB.

Memorials are preferred.
