James M. “Jim” Proell, 63, Long Prairie

March 14, 1952 - August 4, 2015

Memorial Services will be at 11 am Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the Williams Dingmann Stein Chapel, Long Prairie, for James M. “Jim” Proell, age 63, of Long Prairie who passed away on Tuesday at his home. Rev. Gary Taylor will officiate. Family and friends may call one hour before the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

James Michael Proell was born March 14, 1952 at Deer River, Minnesota. Later the family moved to Long Praire where Jim graduated from Long Prairie High School in 1971. He then entered the National Guard and served over 8 years. He married Marilyn Barthel on July 22, 1972 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. They made their home in Long Prairie. Jim was an over the road truck driver for Larson Boat Manufacturing and the last few years for Central Specialties in Alexandria.

Jim liked to hunt and fish, but most of all loved spending time with his family.

Jim is survived by his wife, Marilyn, Long Prairie; daughter, Courtney (Scott Birr) Niemann, Brandon; son, Jimmy (Jessica) Proell, Long Prairie; brothers and sisters, Lowell (Bev) Dugan, Prescott, AZ; Linda (Jim) Crowe, Long Prairie; Mary (Bob) Braaten, Fargo; Penny (Art) Bongers, Pelican Rapids; Becky Borucki, Racine, WI; and Lorrie Centers, Dilworth; and five grandchildren, Dillon (Bethany) Niemann, Shayla (Cody Graves) Niemann, Colton Niemann, Kaitlyn Proell, and Kalista Proell, and one great-grandchild, Lane Niemann.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Sharon Wait, and brother Dennis.
