Mass of Christian Burial will be 11AM on Friday, July 22, 2016 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for James “Jim” B. Steiner, 73, of St. Cloud who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at his residence. Rev. David Grundman will officiate and burial will be with full military honors in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls. Visitation will be from 4-8PM on Thursday, July 21 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home and one hour prior to mass at the church on Friday. Parish prayers will be prayed at 5PM on Thursday at the funeral home.

Jim was born on January 26, 1943 in Atwater to Vern and Marcella (Milsow) Steiner. He met the love of his life, Lee, at a dance at the Cold Spring Ballroom; it was love at first sight. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army until his honorable discharge. He is a Cathedral High School graduate and St. Cloud State University graduate; receiving a Master’s Degree in psychology and rehabilitation. He married Lee Bauer on September 5, 1966 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park. Jim began his professional career working for Vocational Rehabilitation until 1972 and Executive Director of Opportunity Training Center (OTC) until his retirement in 1996. He is a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud, Waite Park American Legion Post #428, and Fraternal Order of Eagles #622. Jim was an amazing cook and enjoyed a great meal with a sweet desert. He was passionate about his family and two best friends from high school, Bill Conlin and George Doyle. Most importantly, Jim was honest, compassionate, caring, and held his family above all else. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Lee of St. Cloud; children, David of St. Cloud, Emmylee (Herbert) Crosby of St. Cloud; grandchildren, Austin Winter, Amanda Byers, Cory (Brittany Doege) Winter, Skylar Winter, Keagan Winter, Braxton Teague; great grandchildren, Riley James Winter, Lacie Ann Winter; siblings, Francis Steiner, Deanna Follmer, and Rosemary Fritz.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Patrick Steiner, Jerome Steiner, Gene Steiner; brother-in-law, Robert Follmer, Thomas Fritz; mother and father-in-law, Olivia “Olive” and Michael “Mike” Bauer; and beloved dog, Angel.
