Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, October 5th at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Abbey Church in Collegeville for Jack Karnowski, age 81 of Nevis, who died on Tuesday, September 29th as a result of a tractor accident in Hubbard County. Inurnment will be at the Abbey Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the Abbey Church. Funeral arrangements are being made with the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph.

Jack was born February 25th, 1934 in Brainerd to Joseph and Martha (Copa) Karnowski. He graduated from St. John’s University in 1956 majoring in Economics. After 3 years in government, Jack joined Control Data Corporation in September 1959, where he spent 30 years of his business career. He served a seven year assignment as vice president of Control Data Europe, in Brussels, Belgium. Jack married Christina Reynders of Belgium in 1973. Jack culminated his career as Vice President and Treasurer of Control Data.

Upon his retirement, Jack turned his attention to developing “the land”, a 140 acre plot in Nevis,spending much of his time trimming and mowing the extensive network of roads, caring for the vast number of trees, and tending to the flowers and garden. Notwithstanding, he found time to play with the grandchildren, pursue his lifelong battle with golf, enjoy crosswords, reading, fishing and hunting grouse and deer. This was a good life.

Jack is survived by his wife, Christina, Nevis, children, Philippe Petit (Therese), Minnetonka, Michele Lesmeister (Brent) Minnetonka, grandchildren, Jack, Katie and Sean, brothers and sisters, Joe Karnowski, San Diego, CA, Dave Karnowski, Chicago, IL, Ron Karnowski, Pequot Lakes, Chuck Karnowski, Brainerd, Tom Karnowski, Eden Prairie, Janet Guin, Brainerd, Irene Leonard, Brainerd and Mary Hanson, The Villages, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Lawrence “Larry” Karnowski.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church in Nevis.
