IRS Scam Making Its Way Around St. Cloud Area

ST. CLOUD -- As the tax deadline quickly approaches, the Stearns County Sheriff's offices is reminding you to be on the alert for recent scams.

Sheriff John Sanner says they have received a number of reports today (Wednesday) from residents saying they received a call from the IRS and the Sheriff's office demanding money.

The caller states they are an IRS employee and working with a Stearns County Sheriff's investigator to collect back taxes.

The caller demands money and says you will be arrested if they don't pay.

In some cases the caller ID shows the call is coming from the Sheriff's Office.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office is reminding you the calls are a scam and if you receive this type of call you should hang up and not give out any personal information.
