Irene H. Smelter, 88, Sauk Rapids

September 12, 1926 - July 8, 2015

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids for Irene H. Smelter, 88 of Sauk Rapids who passed away at the St. Cloud Hospital on Wednesday. Sacred Heart Parish Prayers will be at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home on Saturday. Burial will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls.

Irene was born Sept. 12, 1926 in Medina, MN to Henry & Hildegard (Reiser) Roehl. She married Ambrose Smelter on May 11, 1949 in Foreston. Irene was a homemaker and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sauk Rapids. She enjoyed volunteering, helping others, gardening and working in her yard, visiting with others and reading. She was very hospitable and a fabulous baker and cook.

Survivors include her sons and daughter, Randy and Linda (Theis) Smelter of Baxter, Brian Smelter of Foreston and Lisa Kinne of Florida; 10 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; brothers and sister, Richard, William and Francis Roehl, Mary Nikolas and Henry (Edna) Roehl; and sister in law, Theresa Roehl. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ambrose in 2002; brothers, George and Ray Roehl; and sister, Mildred Dumonceaux.
