SHOREVIEW (AP) -  Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek says investigators have more questions than answers in the case of a rest stop homicide that sparked a chase that ended with officers killing an armed suspect.

Stanek says the investigation is complex because of the number of law enforcement agencies involved, in addition to the complexity of the crimes.

The incident started with a fatal shooting at a rest stop on Interstate 94 in Maple Grove about 1 a.m. Wednesday. It ended after the suspect's vehicle crashed on Interstate 694 in Shoreview. Officers opened fire when the suspect got out of his vehicle and brandished a weapon.

Drew Evans, assistant superintendent of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, says the suspect's vehicle had Oregon license plates, and the BCA is examining the connections.
