FOLEY -- Benton County's police dog is retiring and plans are in the works to replace him. Sheriff Troy Heck says Ben suffered an ACL injury recently and it has prevented the dog from being able to continue working.

Ben has played a key role in sheriff's office operations over his nine years on the force. He is credited with finding a missing child in a corn field, several drug seizures, and help in arresting several dangerous criminals.

Heck says plans are in the works to replace Ben with a new dog.

The estimated $10,000 cost is covered solely through donations and fundraisers. An upcoming golf tournament will help toward that goal. The K-9 Golf Tournament will be held at the Wapicada Golf Club Sunday, August 28th. You can learn more by visiting their facebook page.
