BEMIDJI (AP) - A northern Minnesota city has landed an Indoor Football League franchise.

The league has granted Bemidji an expansion franchise that will begin play in February.

The co-owner and general manager of the Cedar Rapids Titans, Chris Kokalis, will be president and co-owner of the yet-to-be-named Bemidji franchise.

The team will play in Bemidji's Sanford Center, a 4,700-seat arena. The center's executive director Curtis Webb says it will be the first foray into professional sports for the city.

The IFL season runs from February to June. Each team plays a 14-game schedule with half of the games at home.
