ALEXANDRIA, (AP) - State officials say Interstate 94 remains closed between Alexandria and the North Dakota border due to dangerous driving conditions.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says snow and strong winds have created hazardous drifts. MnDOT spokeswoman Dana Hanson says plows were having trouble keeping things clear Friday morning.

She says Highway 10 between Moorhead and Detroit Lakes is also closed. Both stretches were closed Thursday evening.

The weather is expected to worsen in the region. The National Weather Service says the Alexandria area can expect 7 to 9 inches of snow by easly Saturday morning, with temperatures ranging from minus-5 to 10 degrees.

Alyssa Stern is a dispatcher with the Douglas County sheriff's office. She says there haven't been any reports of major injury accidents.
