ST. CLOUD -- Husky Stadium has begun a $400,000 dollar face lift to their football field.

After ten years of constant use, St. Cloud State University decided it was time to replace the old turf.

Ron Seibring is the Director of Sports Facilities and Campus Recreation. He says the field was starting to lose its performance quality.

"We had worn off the top layer of turf, which means the rubber that's in there migrates easier," says Seibring.

The field is used by the SCSU football and soccer teams, intramural sports, and even baseball and softball when the dome is up.

Seibring says they also have new ideas to make the turf more attractive.

"The end zones will be red, with Huskies on one side, St. Cloud State on the other. We will also expand the center logo and the sidelines," says Seibring.

The new turf will be laid down by next Saturday and will be officially open for use on July 1st.
