SOUIX FALLS, S.D. -- The #1-ranked St. Cloud State Huskies baseball team capped off the best season in school history with a decisive 10-5 victory over Augustana in the NSIC Championship on Saturday.

The Huskies got going early, building a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by outfielder Karl Sorensen -- the first of three RBI for Sorensen in the game.

Tied 1-1 in the third inning, SCSU tacked on four runs highlighted by an RBI double by first baseman Zach Hoffman. Hoffman finished the game with three RBI and two runs scored, while going 3-for-4 including a home run.

Starting pitcher Ryan Diers improved his season record to 8-0, allowing four runs on four hits in 7 1/3 innings of work.

The Huskies added two runs in the fifth inning and three more in the eighth en route to the 10-5 victory.

The win gives the Huskies (51-3) an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II tournament which starts next week.
