RICHMOND - A man was taken to the hospital on Sunday after being shot while hunting in Richmond.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says the incident happened at about 11:30 a.m. at the Golden Meadows Hunting Preserve.

54-year-old Steven Grimm of Norwood-Young America was shot while hunting with a group of seven people. Grimm was walking in a line with his group when a bird was flushed up. Several hunters fired at the bird and Grimm was hit with pellets in the upper torso and head.

He was taken to Ridgeview Hospital in Waconia. His condition wasn't immediately available on Monday morning.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
