SAUK RAPIDS -- The Graniteman Half-Marathon has a new location and a new name this year as the Mississippi River Run going on Saturday morning.

The Mississippi River Run will feature a half-marathon, 10K, 5K, and Kids' runs starting from Sauk Rapids Municipal Park.

Race Director and Graniteman Events CEO Bill Corcoran says they made the move from downtown St. Cloud to save money and to take advantage of the scenery along the river.

"There's a lot of shade, which is why we picked this route," Corcoran says. "This is just such an awesome run course."

The route will take the over 600 expected runners from Municipal Park into Sartell, back through Sauk Rapids, down past Wilson and Riverside parks in St. Cloud and back again.

"It's going to be a great morning, the weather's going to be perfect for running," Corcoran says.

"It's going to be a really great weekend for everybody to come out an enjoy one of these last summer weekends in the sun along the river:"

Registration begins Saturday morning at 6:30 a.m. with the half-marathon beginning at 8:00 a.m., 10K starting at 8:30 a.m., 5K beginning at 8:45 a.m. and the Kids' Run taking place at 9:30 a.m.
