ST. PAUL (AP) - About 500 people gathered at the state Capitol mall to mourn the victims of the devastating earthquake in Nepal.

Some Nepalis living in Minnesota say they still can't reach their loved ones. The death toll from Saturday's 7.8 magnitude earthquake has climbed past 5,500 people. Others who were able to connect with relatives say they still can't believe that parents, siblings and cousins are gone.

Organizers of the vigil Wednesday night set up small candles on the ground in the shape of the country. Sagar Uprety says his siblings have young families in Nepal. He says his heart aches thinking about those who didn't make it and those who lost everything.
