ST. CLOUD - The National Guard Armory hosted the Granite City Train Show today, featuring hundreds of model trains and collectibles.

Hundreds piled in to view these model train sets on display. For some, these trains are fun toys to put together. For others, these model trains are a huge hobby. Hobbyists were found everywhere at the show, sharing their stories and enthusiasm for these train sets.

"It's been a big part of my life, I'm kind of obsessed in fact" hobbyist Jay Blomquist says.

From an outside perspective, one can't help but be impressed by the detail put into these train sets. Buildings, townspeople, lights, and various contraptions all contribute towards the atmosphere of a train set.

These model trains are also popular for kids and families-perhaps future hobbyists in the making.

"I love watching the kids when they watch the trains go around. I see that excitement in them that I've also had in my own life" Blomquist says.
