Sometimes even the best students get a case of the sleepies in class. If you want to avoid the embarrassing nap in the middle of class, use these tips and see if it helps you stop the afternoon z's.

TIP 1 -  DRINK WATER

Water?  Water seems to be the answer to everything. A few sips of cold water will help you feel more refreshed. And a lot of water may make you need to use the restroom..believe it or not, that's a sure fire way to make sure you won't fall asleep.

TIP 2 - EAT AN APPLE

Apples are a great source of energy and the act of eating an apple will actually give you a little wake up boost. Throw an apple or two in your backback, and eat that baby on your way to class! You can do this.

TIP 3 - ASK TO GO TO THE BATHROOM

If you're pretty sure you're going to go down in the middle of a lecture, ask the teacher if you can use the restroom, even if you don't have to go. Walking around will give you a little energy boost. Splashing a little cool water on your face will help, and walking at a brisk pace will also help.  Head back to class...Even if you've missed some off the lecture, it's better than missing the whole thing.

TIP 4 - TAKE NOTES

If you are a daydreamer, eventually that will make you a snoozer in class. So TAKE NOTES. The act of taking notes can help keep you awake in class, and will keep you focused more on the class, than how tired you are.

TIP 5 - SIT IN THE FRONT

Sitting in the front of the room will keep you focused on the teacher and less on sleeping, probably because you'll be to scared to fall asleep right in front of them...but hey....do what you gotta do!

TIP 6 - EAT A HEALTHY BREAKFAST AND AVOID THE SUGAR

A big sugary breakfast may cause you to have an energy loss right when you're needing a boost the most. Pop Tarts, Sugary cereals...Guys...try some eggs..How bout a spinach omelet? It can be a quick fix and tastes great. Bring those apples and some cheese sticks for healthy quick snacks instead of crackers to keep you energized. Get up early enough to eat a well balanced breakfast, that will give you the energy you need to make it to lunch.

TIP 7 - WEAR A RUBBER BAND ON YOUR WRIST

Sounds sort of old school, but try snapping a rubber band on your wrist when you get sleepy, might help keep you awake? And the next time you get sleepy, just thinking about snapping the rubber band on your wrist, will help you stay awake!
