Home Town Spotlight: Gilman Co-Op Creamery Continues To Serve Local Farmers [VIDEO]
GILMAN -- This week in our Home Town Spotlight series we pay a visit to the Gilman Co-Op Creamery.
General Manager Adam Bonovsky says the creamery was first founded by a small group of local farmers.
"The co-op was started back in 1923 as basically a milk co-op. They did a little feed back then but a little amount. It was also a butter plant at one time," says Bonovsky.
As the co-op's customer base grew over the years so did the business. Bonovsky says they cover about a 60 mile radius which make up their client base.
"Today we have about 70 dairy farmers and well over a few hundred customers on the feed side," says Bonovsky.
Bonovsky says due to the success, the business began taking on a whole new outlook aside from dairy and feed.
"About 4-5 years ago we saw a need for our local customer base to have a hardware store, everything store is the way we like to put it. If we don't have it we can get it," says Bonovsky.
Today the Gilman Co-Op Creamery has become a vital part to not only farmers but Central Minnesota. Bonovsky says it's their quality service and respect that keeps customers coming back.
