We've had at least two Central Minnesotans report seeing a bright "lightning-like" flash in the skies Wednesday night.

Reports from Foley and Sartell of a bright light in the sky sometime between 6:15 and 6:30 last night.

What was it?

I'm no astro-physicist, but that flash appears to be from fireball meteors.

"Be on the lookout for extra fireballs today and tomorrow. On January 11th, 2011 (tomorrow) 5 different NEOs (Near Earth Asteroids) will fly past Earth. There is an increased chance that fragments from these NEOs may hit Earth, creating large bright green fireballs. Have your cameras ready and please let me know if you see one."

Apparently, there were fireballs the night before in the southern United States, too.  Did anyone happen to be shooting videos at the time of last night's fireballs?  We'd love to share the video.
