ST. CLOUD -- A Holdingford man has pleaded guilty to second degree attempted murder after shooting a man in a dispute over money.

Sixty-seven-year-old Edwin Vail shot the man three times in the early morning hours of September 13th, 2014. The victim was treated for gunshot wounds to the face, abdomen, chest and hand but ultimately survived the shooting.

According to the criminal complaint, the incident happened outside Vail's home in the 200 block of 3rd Street in Holdingford. A witness told investigators the victim had been to Vail's home on multiple occassions, and she believed Vail was upset because he believed the victim owed him money.

After shooting the man, Vail called 911 and told a dispatcher he had shot the man and did not intend to help him while he was lying there.

Prosecutors plan to ask for a sentence of just under 11 years in prison when Vail is sentenced May 28th.
