ST. PAUL -- Huskies fans made the drive from central Minnesota to the Xcel Energy Center today (Friday) with hopes of winning another WCHA trophy.

However, the University of Wisconsin had different plans.

The Huskies fell to the Badgers 4-1 in the WCHA Final Five semi-final round.

Despite the loss, some Husky fans say they will stick around and enjoy the rest of the games.

Travis Weldon is one fan who comes to St. Paul each year, regardless of SCSU making the tournament.

He says he would have liked to see a win, but the tournament offers a great overal fan experience.

Other fans are heading back to St. Cloud in disappointment.

There were high hopes among fans of making the championship game as the top seed in the tournament.

Prior to puck-drop, fans gathered in local bars and restaurants to take in the experience. One fan says the atmosphere alone is enough to get him to come out and support the team.

SCSU fans will now play the waiting game. The team is not a lock to make the NCAA Tournament.

If the Badger or the Tigers of Colorado College win the Final Five, SCSU could be on the outside looking in.

Attendance was not a problem for the Huskies. An announced crowd of over 16,000 watched the afternoon matchup.

The Badgers now await the winner tonight's game between Minnesota and Colorado College.
