ST. PAUL  (AP) — Some artifacts from Minnesota’s past will be on display at the state Capitol Wednesday as part of History Matters Day.

History advocates plan to meet with lawmakers during the day. An advisory group, the Minnesota History Coalition, will present its Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund request to the House Legacy Funding Division in the afternoon.

The public is invited to see artifacts from the Minnesota Historical Society’s collections. Among items on display at the Capitol will be a police revolver that wounded John Dillinger during a shootout in St. Paul, a Virginia battle flag captured by a Minnesota soldier at Gettysburg in 1863, and a melted pocket watch recovered after the Hinckley fire of 1894.
