ST. CLOUD -- After more than seven months of detours, the Highway 23 project between St. Cloud and Foley is open to traffic.

Minnesota Department of Transportation crews opened the roadway this afternoon.

Deer hunters and others who are traveling for the weekend will find four lanes of newly paved highway across the eight miles between St. Cloud and Foley.

The project includes new turn lanes, programmable signal system with flashing yellow arrows at the Highway 23/25 intersection, improved drainage system, improved local roads and upgraded pedestrian crosswalks.

Traffic engineers will monitor the traffic to synchronize the signal timing and MnDOT engineers will also conduct a speed study on that corridor.
