Hibbing House Fire Injures 4
HIBBING (AP) - Four people were injured after a house fire in Hibbing.
The fire department responded at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, with witnesses reporting flames shooting from the roof.
Fire Marshal Bryan Fagerstrom says 70-year-old Alice Quirk was rescued by her grandson by the time fire crews arrived. She was taken by helicopter to a Duluth hospital.
The grandson and his girlfriend were sleeping in the basement and his mother was sleeping on the main floor.
They were evaluated and treated for smoke and fire-related injuries at a Hibbing hospital.
The house did not having working smoke alarms. The damaged is estimated at $70,000.
Fagerstrom says the fire likely started in the attic and doesn't appear to be suspicious.
