Helen K. Schmidt, 91, Princeton

October 22, 1923 - January 20, 2015

Helen Schmidt, 91, of Princeton, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Fairview Northland Hospital in Princeton. She was born October 22, 1923 in Minneapolis, MN the daughter of Carl and Hazel (Sandell) Bengtson. Helen grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Central High School. Helen was united in marriage to Lloyd Schmidt on September 21, 1946 and the couple made their home in Princeton. Helen was very dedicated to her community as well as the First Congregational UCC. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, cooking, baking, gardening and birdwatching. Most of all, her family was extremely important to her. She will be dearly missed.

Helen is survived by her children Marsha (Dennis) Haubenschild and David Schmidt; grandchildren, Tom (Bonnie) Haubenschild, Bryan (Jill) Haubenschild, Sara Schmidt and Isaac (Emily) Schmidt; 6 great-grandchildren along with other relatives, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lloyd, and brother Tom.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Princeton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the First Congregational United Church of Christ or American Cancer Society.
