ST. CLOUD -- A local hospice service is seeking volunteers to assist in caring for patients with terminal illness.

Heartland Hospice in Sauk Rapids needs caring and dedicated people to help out by visiting with patients, running errands, and other such volunteer work.

Keisha Kettler-Herrmann is the Volunteer Coordinator at Heartland Hospice. She says they work to make volunteering suitable for anyone's schedule.

"We have volunteers who help out only a couple times a week," Kettler-Herrmann says. "So it's very flexible."

Volunteering for hospice care may be intimidating in the sense that it can be emotionally tough, but Kettler-Herrmann says it is very rewarding.

"Death is a natural part of life and nobody should have to die alone," Kettler-Herrmann says. "And that's what we're here for."

If you are interested in volunteering with Heartland Hospice, call Keisha at 320-654-1136 for more information.
