HUTCHINSON - An omnibus hearing and a bail hearing have been set for next month in Wright County District Court for the Hutchinson man charged with kidnapping a Wright County man who remains missing.

28-year-old Robert Otis Nuttall appeared in court Friday, where the judge set the omnibus and bail hearings for October 1st.

Nuttall is charged with kidnapping, related to the disappearance of 25-year-old Christopher Rossing of Albion Township.

Nuttall's live-in girlfriend, 33-year-old Gwen Maria Butcher of Hutchinson is charged with aiding an offender, accomplice after the fact.

According to Wright County Sheriff Joe Hagerty, investigators determined Rossing was involved in “a physical altercation” with Nuttall about 1:30 a.m. Aug. 23 along Hwy. 12 in Howard Lake.

According to the complaint, the two had been drinking earlier at the American Legion and, according to the complaint, Nuttall and Rossing got into a fight and ultimately Nuttall knocked Rossing out, put Rossing in Butcher's SUV, forced Butcher into the vehicle, and then drove to their Hutchinson home. After they arrived, Butcher told authorities that Nuttall forced her into the home and told her to go to bed. After that, the complaint states that Nuttall admitted driving Rossing back to Howard Lake but during his statement, investigators say he changed the location multiple times of where he had dropped Howard Lake.

Rossing’s whereabouts remain unknown, and the Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information about this case to call its investigators at 763-682-7637.

A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the missing man.

Prosecutor Brian Lutes said that “the circumstances of this case permitted us to charge the kidnapping” without having yet located Rossing.
