HealthPartners Gives Snack Tips For Baseball Games

BLOOMINGTON  (AP)  — With the excitement of the Twins home opener in the air, a Minnesota health insurer says baseball fans should watch the amount of hot dogs, Cracker Jacks and beer going down the hatch.

HealthPartners is offering friendly tips to keep sports fanatics healthy as they enjoy their favorite teams.

The insurer says be wary of hefty calories packed into seemingly-innocent snacks. One serving of nachos contains a day’s worth of fat. One cup of peanuts has 320 calories, and it’d take 235 laps around the bases to burn off a standard 8-ounce bag.

HealthPartners says condiments like mayonnaise and cheese sauce add calories too. And while beer is a favorite ballpark drink, each light beer has at least 70 fewer calories than dark beers or microbrews.
