ST. PAUL - The head of one of Minnesota's two medical marijuana providers is leaving the company, just eight months after moving there from his oversight role with the Minnesota Department of Health.

LeafLine Labs announced in a news release Friday that Manny Munson-Regala had resigned. LeafLine said Munson-Regala would continue as an adviser.

The company said Andrew Bachman would take over as interim chief executive.

Munson-Regala said the job was "very rewarding" but required a lot of sacrifices for family. He said resigning made sense after Bachman, one of the founders and owners, offered to step into the leadership role.

Munson-Regala helped launch Minnesota's medical marijuana program after it was legalized by the state in 2014. He resigned last June to join LeafLine.
