MINNEAPOLIS -- After a tremendous postseason run, the St. Cloud State Huskies were edged 3-2 by Miami University in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference finals Saturday night.

To get to the finals, the #6 seed SCSU defeated #3 Nebraska-Omaha last weekend before upsetting #1 North Dakota on Friday night.

But Blake Coleman and the #2 seed Miami RedHawks denied the Huskies their Cinderella finish. The senior forward scored all three of Miami's goals, including the eventual game-winner midway through the second period.

SCSU took an early lead on a first period goal by Joey Benik. The Huskies took a 2-1 lead in the second on a goal by Jonny Brodzinski before two unanswered goals by Coleman sealed the win for the RedHawks.

Despite the loss, the Huskies are considered to have done enough in the NCHC playoffs to warrant a trip to the NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament.

Selections for the NCAA tournament will be made today (Sunday) at 11:00 a.m. on ESPNU.
