ALBERT LEA -- A Hartland man has pleaded guilty to killing an Albert Lea woman in a hit-and-run crash.

Fifty-two-year-old Leslie Jones entered the plea to criminal vehicular homicide in Freeborn County District Court Friday.

Jones is accused of hitting 66-year-old Joanne Klein as she crossed a street last December. Police say Jones got out of his vehicle in a nearby parking lot after striking Klein and saw officers trying to revive her.

Jones said he didn't see Klein before hitting her, but admitted that he did see the victim being placed in an ambulance afterward.

As part of the plea deal, the county has agreed to reduce his maximum possible sentence to 58 months in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for July 20.
