ST. PAUL. (AP) -- A number of groups are planning to dedicate a monument honoring Minnesota soldiers who died in the last major battle of the Civil War.

The Minnesota Civil War Commemoration Task Force, Battle of Nashville Preservation Society and the Land Trust for Tennessee plan to dedicate the monument Sunday afternoon at Shy's Hill in Nashville, Tennessee.

Four Minnesota regiments took Shy's Hill during the Battle of Nashville in December 1864, helping rout the Confederate Army of Tennessee.

The battle is considered the last major engagement of the war.

Eighty-seven soldiers died, making it the deadliest single day of the war for Minnesota.
