Group Home in St. Cloud Fined $1,200 After Vulnerable Adult Falls Out of Wheelchair
ST. CLOUD - A St. Cloud group home has been fined over $1,000 after a vulnerable adult fell out of their wheelchair while being driven in a van.
According to an investigative memorandum from the Minnesota Department of Human Services, the incident happened on May 22nd at Eriksmoen Cottages in St. Cloud, at 1530 Oxford Lane.
A vulnerable adult, who is diagnosed with paraplegia and multiple sclerosis, was not properly secured to their wheelchair and fell out when a transport van hey were in went through a roundabout.
The vulnerable adult sustained an abrasion above their right eye and a small laceration on their eye lid. They declined being taken to the hospital and were lifted back into their wheelchair.
After the incident, a $1,000 fine was given to the facility after determining that proper procedures weren't followed. The facility was also ordered an additional $200 fine after it was found they had knowledge of the incident and didn't report it as required.
