ST. CLOUD -- The Great River Regional Library is hosting its first book read of the season on Nov. 5th.

They will be discussing a book by Minnesota author, Kao Kalia Yang called "The Latehomecomer."

The book tells Yang's own account of the struggles growing up in a refugee camp in Thailand during the Vietnam War.

Beth Ringsmuth Stolpman is the patron services specialist at the Great River Regional Library. She says you will learn a brief history of the author's background at the event.

Ringsmuth Stolpman says you should come ready to discuss your thoughts on the book. Local junior high school students have also been reading the book for their language arts class. The books were donated to them by The Community Foundation and the St. Cloud Community Book Read Committee.

The discussion starts at 7:00 p.m. Refreshments will be provided. The next book for discussion will be "To Kill A Mockingbird."
