ST. CLOUD --  The Great River Regional Library's annual High 5 fundraising campaign will start Wednesday.

The campaign asks library supporters to donate five-dollars to their favorite library. Funds from the campaign are split, with 50 percent used at the library where the donation was made, and the other half going into the regional funds.

The regional fund is used to purchase books, DVDs, music, CDs and other materials and technology enjoyed by the area. The other half of the money left with the branches is used as they see fit.

Lead Patron Services Supervisor Brandi Canter says the High $5 campaign is there for libraries to help cover what's not provided in usual funding.

"Our regular funding supports our budgeted activities, but there are often additional activities a branch would like to provide, and High $5 helps with that."

Donors of five dollars or more receive a lime green wristband imprinted with "I am A Library Supporter."

If you wish to make a High $5 donation, and pick up your wristband, stop by your closest Great River Regional Library branch during March.
