ST. CLOUD -- Hundreds of local runners laced up to take part in the Graniteman Half-Marathon this morning in downtown St. Cloud.

Running enthusiasts from around the area congregated at the River's Edge Convention Center to participate in a day full of fitness, prizes and fun.

Bill Corcoran organized the event which included a 5K and kids' fun run last night, he said that between the two days there were over 600 registered runners.

"We're always looking for more runners and to get people more active," Corcoran says.

Logistically speaking, preparing for the event requires a lot of work Corcoran says.

"We spend months," Corcoran says, "working with the city of St. Cloud and the police department just to make sure we're ready to go."

Heading into the winter, Corcoran is working to organize an event called "Ice Man" which is an obstacle course in the mold of "Mud Man" - but with a mid-winter twist.

"It's gonna be January and people who wouldn't normally be active and are just looking for something to do," Corcoran says, "Ice Man will be a good fit for that."
