ROCKVILLE -- Clean-up is all but completed on Stearns County's newest park. Severe storms on June 21st knocked down dozens of mature oak trees at the Rockville County Park & Nature Preserve.

John and Linda Peck donated 190-acres of the 284-acre park to Stearns County to preserve the natural habitat of the area.

Linda Peck says the storm set the park's development back by about two months. But, she says they have a grand opening set for Tuesday, September 24th at 5:00 p.m.

Peck says folks will be able to get some guided tours of what is a very unique landscape along the Sauk River...

And, Peck says there is a very rare prairie within the park too...

The park also includes a boardwalk across the bog, walking and horseback trails and an eagle's nest. She says future plans call for a fishing pier and an interpretive center.
