The Minnesota Golden Gophers men's basketball team stuck with #8 Syracuse in Maui Monday but eventually fell 75-67. Minnesota is now 5-1 on the season.

Minnesota trailed 39-36 at the half and cut the Orange lead to 67-65 with just over two minutes remaining in the second half, but Syracuse closed the game on a 8-2 run.

Malik Smith led the Gophers with 16 points, and Andre Hollins added 14. Minnesota will face Arkansas Tuesday (12:30 pm 1390 The Fan) in Hawaii.
