The Gopher men's basketball team has reportedly reached an agreement with 30-year old Richard Pitino to become their new head men's basketball coach.  CBS was the first to report the agreement.  Pitino is the son of Louisville head coach Rick Pitino.  Richard has worked as an assistant coach under his father, Rick at Louisville before acting as an assistant coach under Billy Donavan at Florida.

Richard Petino has been the head coach at Florida International for just 1 season and were 18-14 this past season but it was their first winning season in more than a decade.  The Gophers fired Tubby Smith 9 days ago after 6 seasons at the University of Minnesota.
