MINNEAPOLIS -- Gophers tight end Maxx Williams caught three touchdowns in a 51-14 win over the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Minnesota used a big second quarter in which they scored 28 unanswered points to take an insurmountable lead over their Big Ten rivals.

Quarterback Mitch Leidner had his best game as a Gopher, throwing for more touchdowns (4) than incompletions (3).

Williams caught three of them along with a highlight reel 25-yard gain while dragging his toe and diving out of bounds to catch a pass.

Sophomore receiver Donovahn Jones caught the other touchdown - a 44-yard deep strike from Leidner.

Star running back David Cobb only rushed for 74 yards and one touchdown as he was almost a secondary option with the successful passing game and frequently-great starting field position.

The day clearly belonged to the Gophers, who forced three Iowa turnovers and outgained them 429 to 205 in total yards.

With the win over the Hawkeyes, the Gophers now own both the Floyd of Rosedale and Little Brown Jug (Michigan) trophies for the first time since 1967.

Next, the Gophers (4-1, tied for 1st in the Big Ten West and 7-2 overall) will host the #14 Ohio State Buckeyes next Saturday.
