SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) - Joey King scored 18 points to help Minnesota beat Missouri State 74-69 in Friday's consolation bracket at the Puerto Rico Tipoff.

Carlos Morris added 12 points for the Gophers (3-1), who got off to a fast start to build a double-digit lead that reached 18 points early in the second half. They spent the rest of the afternoon fighting off the Bears, who three times came as close as three points in the final 11 minutes, including with 18 seconds left.

Morris and Nate Mason each hit key 3-pointers to answer Missouri State's best runs. Kevin Dorsey then made two free throws with 16.7 seconds left to turn away the Bears' final push. He was 4-for-4 from the line in the final 35 seconds.

Camyn Boone scored 17 points to lead Missouri State (0-3).
