The Gopher men's basketball team defeated Appalachian State 70-56 Tuesday night at Williams Arena.  Minnesota finished the game on a 18-4 run after the game was tied at 52 apiece.  Rodney Williams led the Gophers with 18 points and 6 rebounds and Julian Welch had 15 points.  Ralph Sampson III and Joe Coleman each scored 10 points off the bench.  Sampson had missed the last 2 games with a sprained ankle.

Minnesota is 7-0 at home and 9-1 overall this season.  The Gophers host St. Peter's at noon Saturday.
