GOP Details $800 Million in Proposed Construction Projects
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Minnesota Republicans are releasing details of their proposal for spending on public construction projects.
The GOP's $800 million proposal would spend its largest share on road and bridge projects, or about 30 percent of the total. Higher education and water infrastructure would each get around 16 percent of the money.
The total is larger than the $600 million that Republicans had previously suggested they would put forward, but it's not clear the extra money is enough to get crucial Democratic support. Democrats have proposed more than $1 billion in projects.
The final price tag will be part of negotiations between legislative leaders.
