SAUK RAPIDS -- It's a new attraction that will have you in awe at the Benton County Fair.

FOCI Minnesota Center For Glass Arts has been drawing in many spectators throughout the week as they show the art of glass blowing.

Studio Manager Eric Dahlberg says there are not many studios still doing glass blowing.

"Glass blowing involves gathering glass on a stainless steel blow pipe and inflating it using various hand tools and heat to shape it into what you want," says Dahlberg.

Every hour from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. the group holds live demonstrations and the work they do is unlike anything you have seen.

"Sometimes you might see a vase, a bowl, a goblet, a drinking glass or the occasional sculpture," says Dahlberg.

Dahlberg says the craft requires patience, detail and skill especially working with such hot material.

"It's not just how hot it is, it's what tool you're going to be using next, is my assistant bringing the right shape, what colors do I apply," says Dahlberg.

FOCI is located next to the Heritage building and if you're looking for something new check out these magicians of glass work.
