Gertrude Marie Whitson, 97, Sauk Rapids

December 10, 1917 - July 3, 2015

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Wednesday July 8, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sauk Rapids for Gertrude Whitson who died Friday at Prairie Ridge in Sauk Rapids. The Rev. Ralph Zimmerman will officiate and entombment will be at Hilltop Mausoleum in Sauk Rapids . Friends and relatives may call 1 hour prior to services Wednesday at the church in Sauk Rapids. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids.

Gertrude was born in Royalton to Alexander & Elizabeth (Ligman) Cash. She married Walter Whitson on April 20, 1938 in Onamia. The couple lived most of their married life in the Sauk Rapids area except for 8 years in Willmar, Brainerd and St. Paul. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sauk Rapids and a member of the Christian Women, Sauk Rapids Lions Club and Sauk Rapids American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her children, Donald (Kathy) of Sartell; Larry (Rosemary) of Burnsville; brother Henry Cash of St. Cloud; daughter in law, Sandra of Indiana, PA; 10 grandchildren,10 great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren and 10 step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walter, son Dennis, brothers and sisters, Raymond, Fred, Angeline Swafford, Irene Uzee and grandson, Michael.
