Geronimo Energy to Sell Stearns County Wind Farms

SAUK CENTRE -- A Minnesota-based renewable energy development company is selling a pair of Stearns County wind farms.

Geronimo Energy is selling the Black Oak Wind Farm and Getty Wind Farm near Sauk Centre to San Diego, California-based Sempra U.S. Gas & Power.

The farms are currently in development and will provide electricity to power 30,000 homes when its fully operational in 2016.

The farms cover nearly 12,000 acres and will have 51 turbines.

Sempra will sell 100% of the energy output to the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency which serves 13 Minnesota counties.

Terms of the deal were not released.
