ST. CLOUD - Farm equipment manufacturer Geringhoff Corporation is adding a second production line here in St. Cloud.

They had originally been making just corn headers here, but in the last year, they expanded to making drapers headers as well. But, because they have just the one production line, they've had to go back and forth between the two.

The second production line will allow them to make both kinds of headers simultaneously. CFO Kevin Kouba says they make the entire header right here.

We start with raw steel, we bend it, we weld it, paint it, and assemble it with components sourced both locally and from Germany.  Then we put it on a truck and send it to a farm equipment dealer who sells it to a farmer.

Kouba says work on the expansion will start soon, and they hope to be in full production shortly after Christmas. They're looking to hire at least 10 new employees to work on the new production line. Work includes welding, fabrication, painting, and hydraulics.

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development awarded Geringhoff a $169,000 grant to help pay for the expansion.

Geringhoff has been in St. Cloud since 2012.
