Funeral Services will be at 11 am, Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Clarissa School Auditorium for Gerald Lloyd Eckel, age 82, of Eagle Bend, who passed away on Sunday at his son’s home near Clarissa. Gayle Motly and Harriet Cossentine will officiate and burial will take place at Bearhead Cemetery, rural Pillsbury, Minnesota. Family and friends may call from 4-8 pm Friday at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home-Stein Chapel, Long Prairie and one hour before services at the school on Saturday.

Gerald Lloyd Eckel was born December 6, 1932 near Eagle Bend, Minnesota, the son of William and Lillian (Babler) Eckel. He grew up near Eagle Bend and graduated from Eagle Bend High School in 1950. He married Clarice Johnson on June 14, 1952 in Long Prairie, which he had met roller skating in Long Prairie. He was a dairy farmer near Eagle Bend until he retired due to ill health in the fall of 2014.

Gerald was a member of the Non-Denominational Church, where he served as an Elder. He enjoyed moose and deer hunting, spearing and ice fishing, guns, antiques, John Deere tractors, going to cattle shows, farming, loved going to auction sales, but most of all spending time with his family.

Gerald is survived by his children, Glenda (Steven) Abel, Miltona; Bruce (Gisela), Miami, FL; Kevin (Dianna), Clarissa; Scott, Eagle Bend; and Dale, Eagle Bend; siblings, Beverly Pearson, Minneapolis; Jeannette (Vernell) Smith, Becker; Jean (Eugene) Murch, Eagle Bend; and John (Linda) Eckel, Eagle Bend; grandchildren, David (Shannon) Abel, Chad Kopet, Diane (Jeff) Hutchinson, Gerald Ginerski, Danielle (Anthony) Winkler, Jesse (Kayla) McClanahan, Bruce Lee (Paola) Eckel, Sara (Zac) Ruiz, Dominic Eckel, Tyson (Ruth) Eckel, Monique Eckel, Andrew Eckel, Holden Eckel, Samuel Eckel, Aiden Eckel, and Arden Eckel, and great-grandchildren, Hannah Hutchinson, Haley Hutchinson, Kianna Winkler, Elliana Winkler, Caleb “Henry” Winkler, Jayden McClanahan, and Bentley McClanahan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife in 2004, daughter-in-law, Sharene, and great-grandson, Chad Kopet, Jr.
