Gerald J. “Jerry” Schwegel, 79, St. Joseph

March 3, 1937 - May 2, 2016

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 6, at Resurrection Lutheran Church in St. Joseph for Gerald J. “Jerry” Schwegel, 79, of St. Joseph, who died on May 2, 2016. The Reverend Dwaine Bruns and Reverend John Gabrielson will officiate.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 PM on Thursday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph, and from 10:00-11:00 AM on Friday at the church.

Jerry was born on March 3, 1937, in St. Joseph to Andrew and Christine (Bruns) Schwegel. He married Judy Peterson on October 12, 1963. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. Jerry worked for Robel Meat Packing. When he wasn’t working he was tinkering in the garage or watching professional wrestling. His biggest joy was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by: his wife Judy; children, Keith, Shelly (Bill) Maschler, Brian; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
